The Fetch Academy: Dog Training That Lasts at Home
We train your dog. And you.
A 4-week, force-free training programme with the convenience of a board and train and none of its main weakness. We collect your dog three days a week, train them one-on-one at Fetch, and bring them home every night, where you practise together with our coaching.
WhatsApp us to book a consult How it worksThe Problem With Sending Your Dog Away
A traditional board and train sends your dog away for a few weeks and returns them trained. The trouble is where the learning happened. Your dog practised with one handler, in one building, with one set of cues. Then they come home to different people, different words and different rules, and the training often fades within weeks.
Dogs don't generalise well. What they learn at a facility needs to be practised at home, with you, to stick. So we built a programme that does exactly that.
Traditional board and train
- Dog lives away from home for the whole programme
- Learns with one trainer, in one environment
- Owner gets a short handover at the very end
- Different cues and rules at home, so results often fade
The Fetch Academy
- Dog sleeps at home every night of the programme
- Trained at Fetch and at home, so skills transfer
- You're coached from day one, not just at the end
- One cue language shared by our trainer, our daycare team and you
Four Weeks, Built Around Your Dog
Training days
Monday, Wednesday and Friday for four weeks. Rest days in between give you time to practise.
One-on-one sessions
Two individual sessions with your trainer on every training day.
Home sessions
A 60-minute consult at the start and a hands-on session at the midpoint.
Daily videos
After every training day: what we worked on, plus the exact cues to practise.
Weekly video calls
Progress reviewed against your goals, with feedback on your practice clips.
School runs for you
Transport to and from home is included on every training day.
Between training sessions, your dog joins normal group play, or a calmer alternative track if group play doesn't suit them. All training follows Fear Free, PPG and PPBC standards: reward-based, force-free, and no aversive tools, ever.
Aimee Ormee
Pet behaviourist · Founder, Pawfect Behaviour · Fetch partner · Academy leadThe Fetch Academy is overseen by Aimee Ormee, the pet behaviourist behind Pawfect Behaviour and now a partner at Fetch. Aimee is your point of contact from start to finish. She runs your home consult and sets your dog's goals with you, then leads the weekly calls, the midpoint home session and the handover. Your dog's one-on-one sessions at Fetch are delivered by our trainers, working to the plan Aimee sets.
Having a behaviourist at the helm matters. It means your dog is assessed properly before a single session starts, the plan is built around how your dog actually learns, and anything beyond the scope of training is spotted early and referred, not pushed through a programme that doesn't fit.
From First Consult to Handover
Home consult
Aimee meets your dog at home for 60 minutes, learns what you need, and checks whether group play suits them. Together you agree 2 to 4 written, measurable goals, and we record a short "before" video.
Training days, weeks 1 to 4
We collect your dog on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Each day includes two one-on-one sessions plus socialisation or the alternative track, then a short video for you with one or two exercises to practise at home.
Weekly video call
Each week you send one or two short clips of yourself practising. Aimee reviews them with you on the call and checks progress against your goals.
Midpoint home session
At the end of week two, Aimee works with you and your dog at home, fine-tunes your handling and adjusts the plan.
Handover
At the end of week four, you run the cues while Aimee watches and coaches. This is where you prove to yourself that you can do it without us.
Progress summary
You get a short report against your original goals, with before and after video, plus a discounted first month of Fetch membership if you'd like to keep going.
Training You Is Half the Programme
Results depend on what happens at home, so we ask for a written commitment at the first consult. We keep it small enough to fit into a normal week.
What you commit to
- About 5 minutes of practice a day on non-training days
- Using the agreed cues and house rules consistently
- Sending practice clips each week
- Joining the weekly calls and both home sessions
What we commit to
- A clear plan with one focus per week
- Measurable progress tracking against your goals
- Support and feedback throughout the four weeks
- Honesty: we don't guarantee outcomes, because no ethical trainer can
Three Routes, Decided at the Consult
Standard track
One-on-one sessions plus normal group socialisation with the Fetch pack.
Alternative track
For reactive, fearful or easily over-excited dogs, or goals like calm greetings and impulse control. Structured one-on-one time and enrichment replace group play.
Referral
Serious aggression or severe anxiety needs more than a training programme. We'll refer you to a specialist or your vet rather than enrol your dog.
Keeping It Going
Graduates get a discounted first month of Fetch membership, at whatever frequency suits you. Your dog's cue sheet goes into their daycare record, so our team keeps using the same cues on every visit and the training carries on long after week four. Board and Train Questions
Is the Fetch Academy a board and train?
No, and that's deliberate. It gives you the convenience of a board and train, with transport and professional sessions, but your dog comes home every night so you can practise together. That is what makes the results last.
Can my dog stay overnight during the programme?
Not as part of the Academy. Going home between sessions is the point: your dog practises with you, in the place the behaviour actually needs to happen.
Do you guarantee results?
No. Anyone who guarantees how a living animal will behave is overselling. We guarantee a clear plan, measurable goals, regular progress tracking and support throughout, and we show you the before and after on video.
What if my dog doesn't enjoy group play?
The home consult checks this. Dogs who are reactive, fearful or easily over-excited go on the alternative track, with one-on-one time and enrichment instead of group play.
What training methods do you use?
Reward-based, force-free methods only, following Fear Free, PPG and PPBC standards. We never use e-collars, prong collars, choke chains, spray collars or any other aversive tool.
How much practice do I need to do?
About 5 minutes a day on non-training days, with one or two exercises at a time. Each daily video shows you exactly what to do.
Where is Fetch?
Al Qouz Ind 3, Warehouse 11, 19D Street, Dubai, just off Al Khail Road. Transport to and from your home is included on every training day.
Start With a Home Consult
Every Academy dog starts the same way: an hour at home with Aimee, your goals in writing, and an honest conversation about whether the programme is the right fit.
